In its fourth year, The Backstage Bash benefiting The Center for the Arts is one of the community’s most popular events. The fourth annual block party swings into action on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 on College Street in front of The Center for the Arts with a soundtrack provided by Music City Swing.

The Bash, a distinctive fun event, is the Center for the Arts’ primary fundraiser. Don your spats and tails or bedazzle your jeans for a fun night of dancing in the streets.

The Center for the Arts

Money raised by the event will be used to continue bringing visual and performing arts to Murfreesboro for both children and adults. Tickets for dinner and the concert can be purchased for $100. Tickets for entry in the concert portion only are just $35. All event tickets can be purchased on here, through boroarts.org, at the Center for the Arts box office or by calling 904-ARTS.

The Event

We close down the street in front of the Center for the Arts for the entire evening. Dinner and dancing take center stage, and there’s nothing better than swinging in the streets.

Music City Swing

Music City Swing is a band with a mission: Preserving the original sounds of the glorious 1940s Swing Era. Founded by Karl Wingruber in 2003 and featuring an outstanding vocal quartet and some of the area’s best instrumentalists, this traditional large-style big band brings its sound to venues all across middle Tennessee.

Just close your eyes and listen to the band as they play Glenn Miller’s “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” , Benny Goodman’s “Sing, Sing, Sing”, The Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, Tommy Dorsey’s “I’m getting’ Sentmantal Over You” or Count Basie’s “One O’Clock Jump” and you could swear you were “back there”, listening to your favorite band at the Glen Island Casino or the Paramount Theater.

The band also performs the music of modern swing groups such as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and selections from Michael Buble.

Swing music is alive and well, and Music City Swing is keeping it that way!
